Friends of the Library is excited to offer a free program on Thursday, September 26 at 6 pm at the Choctaw County Library. This presentation will be about the many ways drones are used and how they may benefit farmers, landowners, education, and the general public.
The speaker will be Louis Wasson, senior Extension associate from the Geosystems Research Institute at Mississippi State University. Mr. Wasson has over 20 years working in aerial remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems. He joined Extension in 2015 to promote Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs, a.k.a. drones) in agriculture. In addition, Mr. Wasson works with growers and helps educate the public in drone technology and shares information on how it can be beneficial. 4-H is also exposed to his MSU drone program which seeks to inspire youth to pursue a future in science and technology. Mr. Wasson is a FAA Licensed UAV pilot since 2015.
If weather permits, Mr. Wasson will also provide a live demonstration of a drone’s capabilities outside. The Friends of the Library meeting on September 26 will be open to the public and is free.
