To begin this New Year, we would like to share our story of how The Sunshine Boys were set into motion. Many people do not know that at the ages of 2, 5, 6, and 8 we started singing praises to God together as a group.
As our parents explain; get ready to praise God just as we have, being overcome by the words of our testimonies....
Mrs. Esters (mom) begins by saying, “One Sunday afternoon, the boys were playing church. They started singing the worship song, “I love you Lord”, and it was that moment Dre and I knew the boys could sing. A few days after that, the Lord told me the boys were to sing together for Him, and I begin to work with them faithfully. One day while practicing on different songs, my husband I recorded them so they could hear and see themselves singing together as a memory to look back on when they got older.
During the time they started singing, uploading things on YouTube and Facebook was popular; so we shared their videos, not knowing the calls would start coming in for the boys to sing for different events in our home town as well as all around the world. They (The Sunshine Boys) became known for singing their renditions of the black national anthem “Lift Every Voice”, “The Star Spangled Banner”,and “Amazing Grace”.
If you have ever talked with these young men, you would be amazed to understand why they lift up the name of Jesus!
Each one of our boys have overcame profound sickness, and all praises and thanks goes to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who reigns over heaven and earth. The lead singer, Willie (our middle son) who is now 14 begin having seizures around 10 months old. He had 11 seizures back to back when he was 3 years old. The doctor stated “ if he comes out of this, he may not remember who you are”, but Andre (dad) spoke in faith that he will remember who we are, and Willie did. Now it was at this point that I, ( mom) activate my faith and got closer to God after seeing what my son was going through”. I would whisper in Willie’s ear as a toddler to trust God, believe in Him, and know that you are healed”! To sum it up, Willie has not had a seizure in 5 years. God is thanked and praised daily for His healing! Secondly, we have Andre( our 2nd son) who is now 15 refused to take his bottle at six days old. I told my husband we needed to get him to the hospital because this was not right. It is so good to be able to hear the Lord and be obedient to what he says and tell us to do. Upon getting to the emergency room in Oktibbeha County, Andre was admitted for having jaundice, ecoli, dehydration, and his left kidney bigger than the right one. The doctor immediately took him when she entered, and stayed gone for what seemed like hours causing us to pray together. Upon returning she stated, “ l apologize for rushing out, but we had to get him admitted immediately, because had you all not brought him when you did, he would not have made it through the night”! Our son was hospitalized for almost a month there, and was later sent to Jackson for surgery on his kidney. The report given was that he may have leakage, he may have to have a bag attached, or it may grow back. My husband activated his faith again and said, it will not grow back, there will be no leakage, there will not be a bag attached, and our son will have no complications”. All the traveling in and out of hospitals lead to his report every time being, “everything looks good, and you dont have to come anymore”. God is so Awesome! Our baby boy Ethan, who is now 11 was born with ecoli and stayed in the hospital for about 2 weeks. God is thanked and praised daily for his healing. Lastly, we have Josiah (our oldest son) who is now 18 was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 14 years old. His glucose was over 1200, and his A1C was 17. We remembered the doctor rushing back in saying “he’s got to be admitted immediately, his A1C is almost triple what it should be”. Not knowing what she was talking about, we looked at each other and begin to pray. She returned later and said, I am not trying to scare you, but your son should not have walked in here on his own, and we are amazed that he did. He should be dead or in acoma. Dumbfounded to what diabetes really was and what she was saying, I turned to the greatest healer of them all, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God had already healed Willie, Andre, and Ethan, so doubting and worrying about Josiah was not even an option. We activated our faith, and gave what seemed impossible to man, to the one who makes all things possible. Josiah was taken to the children’s hospital in Jackson where he received further treatment. My husband and I tell you with joy, that our son is not dead. He is not in acoma or ICU, he’s right here with us because of God, and we thank and praise Him daily for his healing. Its amazing to see our sons turning into young men, and we hope many understand why God is important in our lives and why we praise Him! As the parents of The Sunshine Boys, we prayed to God and trusted Him with all our sons, and we have learned to never stop leaning and depending on Him! My wife and I love our sons, and we Thank God for the time He has given us to be in their lives, teaching, guiding, and correcting them as they grow and learn how to be God fearing men. We’ve learned from our pastor’s teaching ( Dr. Willie Goss Jr.), not to claim or take ownership of anything that is not of God; therefore, we know sickness is not of God. For example, we say “the diabetes” instead of “my diabetes” did not and will not take our son! He is healed in the Name of Jesus, and we stand on God’s word, not man.
If you have been following the The Sunshine Boys; you will see that 9 years later, they are still lifting up the name of Jesus together! The three older brothers attend Louisville High School as a senior, sophomore, and freshman, while the baby brother attends LES as a fifth grader. As the year of 2019 begins, The Sunshine Boys and their parents would like to encourage you to get closer to God by studying His word
(2 Timothy 2:15). Choose to Love and embrace each other every chance you get, and know that God and your life is what’s important, not the temporary things of this world. The Sunshine Boys Thank you for your support and encouragement throughout the year of 2018. We ask that you continue to pray for us as we continue to do a work for the Lord. Our prayer to God is that we stay humble as He continues to open up doors, and use The Sunshine Boys to lift up their voices in song, praise, and worship! As Psalms 104:33 says, “I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being”.
