The Culwell brothers, Julius and Robert, are well accustomed to the show arena, but this past year of showing was especially fruitful for the two Louisville youths.
The brothers are members of the Pinto Horse Association of America (PtHA) Youth Organization and the Mississippi Pinto Horse Association (MPHA). Julius and Robert were recently voted as President and Vice President, respectively, of the newly formed Mississippi Youth Pinto Horse Association. This past year the brothers represented their local youth association by competing at multiple PtHA recognized shows.
During the 2018 show season, Julius won two High Point Pinto Youth Exhibitors Awards while showing at local Zone 6 shows and younger brother Robert won two Reserve High Point Pinto Youth Exhibitors Awards. Zone 6 includes the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee.
These achievements led the two youths to win Yearend Junior Youth Zone 6 High Point Awards for the 2018 show season. Julius was recognized as 2018 Reserve High Point Youth for Zone 6 with his solid pinto mare How D My Valentine and 3rd overall in the Zone with his other solid pinto horse. Robert won 5th overall in the Zone with his solid pinto gelding Famous N Fancy.
Julius has been invited to the PtHA Awards Banquet at the PtHA Convention in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 2nd where he will be recognized for his achievements during the 2018 show season.
For youths interested in participating in MPHA, they can contact MPHA Youth Advisor Dr. Molly Nicodemus at mnicodemus@ads.msstate.edu.
The next MPHA show will be held on March 30th-31st in Meridian, Mississippi at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center.
