The ladies of the Maben Home and Garden Club ended the 2018 year with its Christmas bash Dec. 18 at the Olde Town Bakery on Second Avenue in Maben.
Jackie Poss was the official leader of the day. After welcoming everyone, Sylvia Templeton presented the devotion, which she took from “Every Day in His Presence” titled “Prince of Peace.” After the devotion she returned thanks for the food. After the meal, the regular business meeting was skipped.
Mrs. Poss then proceeded to lead the group with a series of Christmas games. The first was to make as many words as you could with the words “Merry Christmas.” Sandra Bishop won by making 42 words. She won a lovely Santa platter with cookies and candy. The next game was where one gift was passed around according to instructions. The last person with the gift was the winner — Cathy Lollar won a bowl and a gift card.
The next game was to say, “Never have I ever” and then read your slip of paper. If you had done it then you traded places with someone. This invariably moved everyone around the circle of chair-filled people. The game ended by taking the gift that was under your chair. Going around the circle each person lifted their gift and the donor acknowledged it.
Last, each member drew a slip of paper out of a bowl that said yes or no. If it was yes, you won a door prize. Martha McMinn, Sandra Bishop and Kay Lewis won the gifts. This concluded the games. Suffice to say, everyone had a fun time.
President Jane Collins announced that the next meeting was Jan. 15 at the Olde Town Bakery and the program would be on bees. The program adjourned.
