President of Mississippi State University Dr. Mark Keenum will be the special guest speaker for the Nov. 19 Cross of Christ Area Thanksgiving Service.
The service will be 7:15-7:45 a.m. at the cross site, the crossroads of Highway 82 and Highway 9. Additionally, area ministers from various denominations will have scripture reading and prayers.
All are invited to attend. Please bring a lawn chair for seating at the cross site area. Folks will be assisted (if needed) to secure a parking spot and a place to sit. Parking will be available at the Crossroads Church of God parking lot or at the area alongside the cross site.
Dr. Mark Everett Keenum became Mississippi State’s 19th president Jan. 5, 2009, and he has guided his alma mater to unprecedented heights, including record enrollment and fundraising.
Keenum is immediate past president of the Southeastern Conference, and he was recently named chairman of the College Football Playoff’s board of managers. Earlier this year, he was elected to serve a six-year term on the board of trustees of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
Keenum’s passion for international engagement and transformative research and service has positioned Mississippi State as a global leader across a range of disciplines.
A graduate of Corinth High School, Keenum earned an associate in arts degree from Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville and was a member of the Northeast Tigers football team. He holds a bachelor of science, master of science and doctorate in agricultural economics from Mississippi State.
Keenum is married to the former Rhonda Newman of Booneville, also an MSU graduate. They have four children: Rett, Mary Phillips, Katie and Torie.
If inclement weather, the alternate site will be First Baptist Church Eupora sanctuary.
“It is an honor to have President Keenum as our special guest speaker,” leadership volunteers for the cross project stated. “Please show your support for him and for The Cross of Christ by attending this early Thanksgiving event. May all glory be to God!
