The week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3 was a busy one for sure; lots of visitors from different families and of course I’m in the mix.
One of the visitors of a family was a former boxer as well. This was really interesting to me. I enjoyed that talk. Shirley Henley of the Spring Valley Singers came in on Monday and gave us a real treat of a show. Tuesday in the morning Mrs. Louise Hill and Sandra Turner came out to sing with us. Ms. Nan Johnson stepped in to play the piano for us. We sure did miss Mrs. Johnnie though.
Later that morning we had right at 100 trick-or-treaters come down the hallway trick-or-treating and wanting that CANDY! They were all dressed up in their Halloween costumes and ready for candy. They had us all lined up in the hallway with huge bags of candy ready! While we waited we had fun with the staff as Halloween music was playing and staff and residents were dancing away. We love this day; it’s fun to see the children and give them candy.
After lunch we had a craft time; the ladies enjoy this time for sure. Today I just played on my guitar in my room. Later that night we had our community trunk-or-treat. The staff and other visitors from Mississippi HomeCare, Legacy Hospice and Cain Clinic all made trunks for the community kids to come by. To my surprise I had some trick-or-treaters come to my room! By then I had run out of candy, or did I eat it all? Ha-ha. Next year I will be more prepared. But we do thank everyone who made it a success.
And then on Wednesday was our Halloween party, which we had a great time dressing up and eating lots of goodies. They had a costume contest between the staff members and one for the residents. They all thought I just got in a fight, but I was the “Original Black-Eyed Pea.”
Thursday the Heavenly Highway Singers always come and give us a show each week. We can’t thank them enough. Mr. Ed Lacey, Mrs. Shirley Wilson, Mr. Tony Vickers and Mr. Shumaker always are there. Friday was Nail Day for the ladies and let me tell you they were busy! Now we’re ready for church services from Mr. Robert Goodwin on Saturday and Bro. Tim Hudson on Sunday.
On behalf of the residents and staff of Diversicare of Eupora we want to thank all of our pastors that have a part of our family here at DVCR. You are appreciated and loved and we thank you! Happy Pastor Appreciation Month this October!
