Brothers Julius and Robert Culwell have been actively showing their palomino horses in the Palomino Horse Breeders of America (PHBA) shows since 2010 traveling across the United States showing at various competitions.
Over the years, the brothers have accumulated numerous awards and trophies both in the youth and open divisions, and this year was no exception. Through their hard work, the brothers completed the 2018 show season bringing home a total of 13 Top Ten titles in the Open Division competing against trainers and other equine professionals with their three palomino horses. Competing for the first time in the Open Division with his gelding Famous N Fancy, 12 year old Robert won two Open Top Ten titles in the speed events along with one Open Top Ten title in Senior Trail and another in Senior Reining. Competing for his third year in the Open Division, 14-year-old Julius won a total of 9 Open Top Ten titles in the performance classes including Championships and Reserve Championships in Senior Reining and Flag Races and Championships in Senior Pole Bending and Barrel Races.
His success in the show arena led to Julius winning with his 22-year-old mare How D My Valentine a Championship in Top Performance Horse, 5th in Top Mares, and 6th in Top Palomino Horse.
This is the third year in a row that Julius and his horse have held the title of Top Performance Horse. Julius won with his 15-year-old mare Hollywood NV ME 3rd in Top Performance Horse and 8th in Top Mares. Both brothers were able to get all three of their show horses in the Top Ten for the state of Mississippi including a 1st, 3rd, and 7th.
The Culwell brothers will receive trophies including a trophy saddle for these titles at the PHBA Awards Banquet at the 78th Annual PHBA National Convention March 16th in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Robert will also be recognized during the convention for reaching the 100 Hours Level of Achievement riding How D My Valentine in the PHBA Recreational Riding Program.
