A 2020 Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Lakeland Clark of Benoit, MS, traveled east on Highway 448 when it collided with a 2023 Hyundai Elantra driven by 33-year-old Martez L. Duncan of Southaven, MS, traveling west on Highway 448. The accident occurred around 9:55 pm on August 23.
Martez L. Duncan received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Lakeland Clark was injured and taken to a local hospital. John H. Gordon, a passenger in the Ram 1500, was transported to UMMC in Jackson with serious injuries.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
