The Eupora Police Department is investigating a Christmas Day incident in which someone
shot into an occupied car.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. Dec. 25 on Dunlap Street near Mt. Union M.B. Church,
according to Police Chief Lawrence Caradine. The church is located on West Clark at the
corner of Dunlap.
Someone shot through the back glass of a vehicle occupied by the driver, Caradine said. The
driver drove away and crashed into another vehicle but was not hit by the gunfire or
injured in the crash, the chief said.
Webster 911 reports show the EPD, Webster County Sheriff’s Office and EMS were
dispatched.
While 911 reports show a call was also received about 8:15 p.m. Dec. 26 of shots fired on
Dunlap Street, Caradine said this was not a related incident.
Caradine said he believes the Dec. 25 shooting stemmed from some type of argument. He
said witnesses are not cooperating with the investigation and the EPD was still working to
identify the shooter as of last week.
“We encourage you to come forward, and I’m going to be honest with you, a lot of these
people say they don't want to be snitches,” Caradine stated. “Like I tell people, it’s not being
a snitch. You are taking care of your community … that means you’re protecting yourself,
you’re protecting the people around you. That's what I call pulling together."
