I am, Chasatie Fisher, the new publisher for the Winston County Journal, Webster Progress Times and the Choctaw Plaindealer.
Most of the readers of the three newspapers probably have interacted with me over the years. I am not new to the three newspapers. I interned at the newspapers in 2005 and worked as part-time employee from 2005 to 2009. In 2011, I started as the fulltime bookkeeper and circulation manager.
I have been an intergral part of the newspapers for 17 years. If you needed to pay a bill or resubscribe to the newspaper, you probably spoke to me at one time or another.
All of our team members have been a part of the newspapers for years and we have a great team at the Winston County Journal, Webster Progress Times and the Choctaw Plaindealer. Everyone here works well together and puts maximum effort into making three great newspapers. We are going to be adding to our team to help move these newspapers forward.
While I have worked in all the aspects of the three newspapers, if you had asked me a month ago, I would never have imagined myself as publisher, but I truly believe that God opened a door for me when this position became available.
The newspapers have been a major part of my life as well. At 33 years old, my husband (Josh Fisher) and I are raising two daughters, Caylee (12) and Aubrey (6). Both of my children are familiar with the newspapers, and each have spent numerous hours at the office. My parents have always been supporters and encouragers no matter my role at the newspapers and are proud to see me take on the challenge of running the newspapers.
It will be a challenge, but I have a great team, a supportive family and all of you to make these newspapers even better as the future comes rolling in.
I plan to do my absolute best in this new role as publisher. As you turn the pages of the newspaper this week, I am turning a new chapter in my life.
