The Graveside Service for Eddie Lee Hilliard, Jr. was held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 1:00pm at the Church Hill Cemetery in Eupora, MS with Pastor Ronald Jefferson officiating. He was 85 years old. Eddie Lee Hilliard, Jr., was a 1957 graduate of Jackson State University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Eddie was a former educator, civil service employee, and a skilled musician. He was an intelligent, friendly, helpful, extremely talkative, God-loving extrovert, who tried his best to help himself and other people. He was a blessed man whom God enabled to be a blessing to others. His love of animals, especially dogs and cats, is well known. He gave good business, life, educational and religious advice. Eddie Lee had the gift of gab which means HE MET NO STRANGERS! EVER!! He told hilarious stories that will live on for years. During his lifetime he was called Negro, colored, black, and African American. Through it all, he stood tall and was proud of them all. He believed in striving for excellence and believed if you could dream it, you could achieve it through hard work and education.
Eddie was preceded in death by his mother, Pansy Mae Doyle-Hilliard; father, E.L. “Tot” Hilliard; sister, Frances Hilliard-Cole; and brother-in-law, Booker Cole.
