It’s spring and plans in celebration of Easter abound in Winston County. The local area will mark the festive occasion with a few special events.
The Patriot Cheerleaders of Winston Academy are doing their part this Easter season. Egg My Yard will be a two-day fundraiser for the group.
Persons may contact Mariann Beals, WA cheer coach, at (662) 773-3569 and let the Patriot Cheerleaders deliver goodie-filled Easter eggs to their yards. The cheerleaders may be reserved for Egg My Yard either Fri., April 18 or Sat., April 19, with an 8 p.m.-10 p.m. delivery and drop either day. The amount of eggs available per drop and the prices will include: 1-dozen, $15; 2-dozen, $25; 3-dozen, $35; and 4-dozen, $45. The deadline to order and schedule a drop for a particular place is Friday, April 11.
Legion State Park will again host its annual Easter egg hunt. On Friday, April 18, children and an accompanying parent should hop over to the park for a fun-filled morning from 9-10 a.m. This free event is for kids, ages 12 and under, to enjoy the excitement of hunting for special Easter eggs and winning great prizes. Kids should remember to bring their Easter baskets. For questions, call Terri Grice, park manager, at (662) 773-8323.
Several area Easter events also are scheduled for Saturday, April 19. One of which is the annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Junior Auxiliary of Louisville for the children of Winston County. The hunt will be at Ivy Park, located at 201 Ivy Avenue in Louisville, beginning at 9 a.m. Persons can contact Hayden Kilgore, JA president, at (662) 803-4051 for details.
Another area Easter event scheduled for Saturday, April 19 will be sponsored by the Noxapater Community Chamber Alliance. NCCA will host its annual egg hunt at Molly Estes JW Young Park located at 4511 Kilpatrick Street in Noxapater. The time will be announced closer to the event date, but persons may call NCCA at (662) 803-3413 for details.
Also happening Saturday, April 19 will be the annual Egg Drop by helicopter for area children at Nanih Waiya Community Park. The event is sponsored again by Butler Pentecostal Church. For details, contact the church at (662) 210-0535 or the park at (662) 773-5998. The Nanih Waiya Community Park is located at 9185 MS-490 East in Louisville.
