PEARL – Nekendra Patterson, an East Webster eighth grader, won the 300 hurdles at the MHSAA 2A track meet with a time of 50.03. The meet was held last Saturday at Pearl High School.
Patterson was second at the North State meet a week earlier, behind Reneshia Myles of North Side, but won gold at the state meet, ahead of Erin Ware of Newton, Charity Young of North Forrest and Myles.
Her victory led East Webster to an 11th place finish with 23 points. Eupora was 20th with eight points. In the boys meet, Eupora was 13th with 22 points and East Webster 24th with six.
St. Patrick won boy meets.
Also for East Webster girls, Shanayshia Culpepper won a bronze medal with third place in the shot put, Cayden Gentry was sixth in the 3200 and the 800 and 3200 relay teams finished seventh.
For Eupora girls, Nadia Coffey was fifth in the shot put, M'Nijah Young sixth in the 100 and Arterria Hill eighth in the 200.
In the boys meet, Sammie Bowie took fifth in the discus for Eupora, Joshua Stevenson was sixth in the 100, Elijah Wofford finished sixth in the 300 hurdles, the 3200 relay team was third and the 400 team finished seventh.
For East Webster boys, Jontavis Cunningham was fifth in the 200 and the 800 relay team finished seventh.
