Circuit Judge George Mitchell Jr. sentenced Larry Fountain Jr. to 10 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (with five years to serve) after he pleaded guilty to statutory rape. One sentence in the Feb. 20 article “Man sentenced for statutory rape” gave an incorrect number of years for the sentence.

Richard Ford facing manslaughter charges

When Richard Perry Ford, Jr. of McCool left the Attala County Circuit courtroom Tuesday after his arraignment on felony negligent manslaughter charges in the July 2018 hit-and-run death of 20-year-old Bethany M. White of Louisville, he and his family were quickly followed by the victim’s father and other family members.
