A man wanted on charges in Oktibbeha and Webster counties was captured last week by U.S. marshals after evading arrest earlier this month.
The U.S. Marshals Services captured Daniel Jones and Madison Hendricks on Feb. 13 in Greenville, according to the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office and WTVA News.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol was pursuing Jones and Hendricks on Feb. 2 when the pursuit entered Grenada County from Duck Hill. It ended off of Old Academy Road in Gore Springs in a wooded area, where the car was abandoned and the two fled on foot, the GCSO stated afterwards. They remained free until their Feb. 13 apprehension.
The Grenada County Sheriff’s Office said Jones, 29, was wanted in several counties on felony charges not related to the pursuit. These include charges in Oktibbeha and Webster counties, according to Webster County Sheriff David Gore.
WTVA reported last week that Jones is accused of breaking into a shed on Sturgis-Maben Road and stealing 45 guns. As of then, the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office said only three of the firearms had been recovered and each was in the possession of someone else other than Jones.
Jones faces charges of burglary other than a dwelling, grand larceny, possession of a weapon by a felon and trafficking firearms, the station reported. His bond has been set at $50,000. It was not clear as of press time what charges if any Hendricks faces. Jones is from Ackerman, according to his Facebook profile.
