A man has been bound over to Webster County Circuit Court in connection with the shooting death of his wife.
Darnell Campbell, who was out on bond, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Aug. 11 in Justice Court. He was represented by attorney James Powell with Horan and Horan.
Justice Court Judge Rebecca Ellison bound him over to await the action of the next grand jury and continued his bond at $75,000.
Campbell, 40, is charged with homicide in the July 6 fatal shooting of his wife, Kayla Simmons Campbell, also 40.
Darnell Campbell called 911 that evening and stated he had shot his wife at their house on Mt. Vernon Road, according to Sheriff David Gore. Kayla Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband was taken into custody without incident. He posted bond two days later and was released.
