The man who was accused of killing a 36-year-old woman in Newton County has been found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Newton County Sheriff Joedy Pennington.
Earlier on Wednesday, Pennington said authorities received a tip that Roderick Tyrone Moss, 48, was hiding out in a house on County Road 121 in Clarke County.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that they observed a male at the resident matching the suspect’s description on the porch. The suspect apparently ran into the house, and “then authorities heard what appeared to be a gunshot. The house was secured, and gas was deployed. When the gas cleared, a robot was introduced into the home, and video of deceased Roderic Tyrone Moss was obtained.”
Pennington said that Moss was the only suspect involved in the murder of Char’Dae Knowlin, 36, of Ledlow Road in Newton County.
“The victim’s family has been notified, and the suspect’s family has been notified,” Pennington said. “We hope that this can bring some justice to her family.”
