Two Ackerman men have been indicted on unrelated charges. Both men went before Judge Devo Lancaster on Thursday, Feb. 1 in Choctaw County Circuit Court.
Kirsten Kent was indicted on a count of aggravated cruelty to a domesticated dog and a count of aggravated assault.
According to the indictment Kent allegedly shot a domesticated dog and allegedly caused bodily injury to Julius Lovelace with a firearm.
The incident took place in the city limits of Ackerman on Dobbs Road after Kent shot a dog, which was not his dog according to an earlier story and had an argument with his neighbor after the shooting of the dog took place.
Also, William “Bill” Tennyson was indicted on two counts of touching a child for lustful purposes, three counts of sexual battery and one count of statutory rape. The indictment alleges that the incidents took place when the child, who is an adult now, was under the age of sixteen. The indictments state the incidents took place between 2009 until 2012. The State of Mississippi does not have a statute of limitations on the crime of sexual assault.
An indictment does not mean there’s a conviction. An indictment means that probable cause of the crime has been established, the person is still presumed innocent until convicted.
