The County Boys are in a fight to battle back for the fourth spot before district takes place. The boys are currently in fifth place, just behind Aberdeen. They’ve had a bit of a rocky season, but they haven’t let it slow them down.
The Chargers were able to get the win over Aberdeen but took back to back losses to East Webster and Mooreville. At press time Tuesday, they were scheduled to take on Nettleton in their last home game of the season. Tonight, they end their regular season in Eupora with another Highway 9 Bowl matchup on the hardwood.
Choctaw County, 57, Aberdeen 52
The Chargers were able to hold off Aberdeen to get the win on the road. Caleb Cunningham led the Chargers with 20, followed by KJ Cork and Quay Lowery with 8 a piece, Vari Carter and Kentavious Baber each had six points, Chancen Mosley had five and Ethan Miller rounded it out with four points.
East Webster, 69, Choctaw County 57
The County Boys were within reach of spoiling the Wolverines perfect run through the district, but fell just short.
The Chargers and Wolverines were in a back and forth battle, but the Wolverines were able to pull it out in the very end.
Cunningham led the Chargers with 21 points, Will Taylor had 12, Baber had 9, Cork had 8, Carter had 5 and Mosley rounded it out with 2 points.
Mooreville 47, Choctaw County 45
In another very close game, it was the Troopers that pulled out a win against the Chargers. And again, the Chargers battled against the Troopers but, the Troopers were able to pull out the win.
In their game against Nettleton, the Chargers who are 1-4 in district have to pull out a win against Nettleton to at least have a shot of a position in the playoffs.
District tournament begins next Monday through Friday in Nettleton.
