WRITEON FOR MAY 1

SUNSHINE and more as far as I'm concerned! U? Well, it's time for finals, and state tests, and projects being due. It's time to think about summer and how exciting it will be to perhaps go somewhere special.
I watched a most interesting segment of SUNDAY MORNING where the presenter shared the millions of postcards he has received of people sharing their secrets. Back in 2004, he said, he worked on a suicide prevention line and realized that as people are willing to share that deep and painful (or humorous or romantic) secret somehow it loosened it's power over them. The amazing stacks of postcards and the wonderful art work most of them also expressed has led to showings at various museums of art, to books, and to his speaking engagements mostly around college campuses. One touched me. A youngish (30s?) woman had been in therapy for years having been abused by her grandfather. When she saw a 'secret' sent in by another person she realized she was not alone and that there was actually someone out there who understood her pain from the inside out. That revelation turned her around.
Secrets are either death-dealing or our key to liberation. Maybe your secret is an illicit affair at 19years old...or that you love horror movies, or indeed that you are scared of the dark. No matter the content if it is MY secret it moves me, causes me to exhibit certain behaviors, and/or allows me to rejoice.
Another aspect of this little segment touched me as most of my art work is small...and postcard art has always been a part of it. It is amazing how much 'art' can fit on a postcard and in addition to the colors, photos or 'howdys'...the powerful message can be something the recipient treasures.
Next time you review your secrets think of who you might share it with, especially if it is holding you back.
Prayers and blessings for all of you preparing for exams, graduations, weddings, and special trips. Enjoy the journey that leads to the heightened day...
BLESSINGS.
