United We Feed Food Drive
The Choctaw Baptist Food Ministry, house at Broken Wings, is teaming up with United Way for the 2018 United We Feed Food Drive. You can donate now till October 22nd. Volunteers will be at SuperValue in Ackerman each Saturday from 9-1 collecting food and monetary donations. The money raised will be in turn use to buy food for the Food Ministry. Bins are located at Broken Wings, SuperValue, Dollar General Ackerman, and Ackerman Discount Drugs. Contact Michael Bishop at 662-736-4480 for more information.

Autumn Beauty Review
Saturday, October 20
The Autumn Beauty Review is part of Jack O’ Lantern Jam. The Autumn Beauty Review will be Saturday, October 20 at 1pm at the Ty Cobb Auditorium in Ackerman. The attire is Mother’s Choice – Pageant or Sunday Dress. Entry fee is $25, includes all three side events. Winners of each division will receive a crown, alternates will receive a sash, winners of side events will receive a certificate, and everyone will receive a trophy. Doors will open at 11am. Beauty Review starts at 1pm. Admission will be free for kids under 5. Ages 6 and up will be $5 at the door. Parents will have to pay admission. All paperwork and money are due NO LATER than Friday, October 5, 2018. Jack O’ Lantern Jam

The 2018 Jack O’ Lantern Jam will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 5pm on the Choctaw County Courthouse Lawn in Ackerman. Free, family friendly event. First come, first serve. Activities include: Trunk-or-Treat, Games, Inflatables, Pumpkin Decorating Contest, Scarecrow Trail, “Jail” – fee based and Concessions. Check out our Facebook page for updates. Suttle Reunion planned for October 27th
Descendants of Samuel Stephen Suttle and Ann Culbertson will hold a family reunion at Nanih Waiya Park in Winston County on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend. Choctaw County Historical & Genealogical Society
Come one and all – join us in our first “road trip” of the year to THE STARKVILLE CIVIL WAR ARSENAL. Curator, Duffy Neubauer will give us a tour and answer questions about any and all field artillery rolling stock and associated support vehicles in the museum. You may choose a lecture program from a list of artillery-related topics. Most visits to the arsenal are completed in about two hours but visits are not set to that amount of time. There is NO admission fee to the arsenal but donations are welcome to help with the operating and maintenance costs. We will carpool and/or meet at the site at 11:30 October 22nd. Choctaw County Forestry Association meeting
Dr. John Kushla will conduct a program on food plots Thursday, November 8. Meal begins at 5:30pm with meeting starting at 6:00pm. at the Chamber of Commerce Office.

Earth Grace Ocean Springs Bracelet chances are being sold by Choctaw County 4-H.

Bracelet will be given away December 13 at 6pm at Holiday Open House. You do not have to be present to win.

The Silver Social Club meets every Monday morning at the Choctaw County Library from 9am-Noon. This is a free program offered by the library for everyone ages 55 and up. The patrons plays cards, dominoes, and board games. Come for the entire time or just part of the time. Coffee and water are supplied by the library..
