The Winston County Republican Women met Monday, March 21st , at Market Café. The guest speaker was Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, Andy Gipson.
Commissioner Gipson discussed the challenges Mississippians are facing today and how the rising prices affect our agriculture industry. He encouraged us all to remain positive and hopeful. He said, “Mississippians are known for their tenacity; we will survive.”
He also discussed how proud he is to promote everything “Grown, Raised, Crafted and Made” right here in the magnolia State! The Genuine MS program was created to make it easy for you to find products proudly created or produced by Mississippi farmers and entrepreneurs. Genuine MS shows our state pride and helps keep our economy strong. You may read more about this program at www.genuinems.com.
We were also pleased to have Sadie Stevenson and her mother Tonya as our guests. Sadie has been selected to represent us at ALA Magnolia Girls State in June at the University of Southern Mississippi. It was with great pride we presented her a check to help support her efforts.
Our next meeting will be Monday, May 16, 2022 at Market Café. Senator Jenifer Branning and Representative Joey Hood will discuss the results of the current Legislative session. The public is invited to attend.
