Rain, rain, go away! It’s been a few days on consistent rain, which makes it hard to do work on the future Chargers Stadium.
David Calvert with Machado Patano updated the Choctaw County School Board on the work being done on Charger Stadium. Calvert said so far, the east and west parking lots have been done and look very good.
He said the work is progressing and they’re hoping that more could be done, but it depends on the weather. Calvert said they’ve been dealing with days of rain.
Calvert an incident with the Town of Ackerman water arose, but was quickly fixed.
“I’m not sure about the town but we had brown water in Reform,” Board President Mike Thomas said.
Calvert also told Superintendent Glen Beard and the board that if a problem arose, to direct all questions that the contractors may have to him.
“Just tell them that David will handle it or call David and I’ll handle it,” he said. “You don’t have to do deal with it.”
Calvert said it’s been 90 percent positive and 10 percent negative. He said there was an issue with the retaining wall and the curbing. Calvert said he was notified of the issue and it would be fixed.
“After I came down and saw it, and I threw a hissy fit, it’s getting fixed. It’s not right and it’ll be no cost to you,” he said.
Calvert said that Flagstar was a week away from beginning work on the field itself. He also mentioned the issue with the Town of Ackerman water.
“There was a water issue at the site. It was cutoff two Mondays ago and turned back on 30 minutes later. We had to reflush the valve.”
