In early October, Wendell Williams, Trail Life leader for Trail Life USA Troop 1027 based out of Columbus, presented at First Baptist Eupora’s Men’s Prayer Breakfast.
Ray Beeson, a First Baptist member, invited Williams to speak.
“When we first moved to Eupora, we were surprised that there wasn’t a local Scouting troop for our son to join. When I came across Trail Life, for boys, and its sister organization, American Heritage Girls, for girls, I was excited to see this type of organization and leadership they provide.”
Beeson, with the help of First Baptist Pastor Travis Gray, hopes to gauge local interest in forming Trail Life USA and American Heritage Girls troops locally.
“Currently, we are looking for those families with boys and girls in grades K-12 who are simply interested in learning more about it. Also, we really hope to connect with adults who would be willing to participate as leaders, including parents and individuals, like church volunteers, who enjoy ministering to children and youth,” Beeson said.
Beeson said both organizations offer comprehensive values that will benefit children well into adulthood.
“By offering leadership through Christian principles, and adventure and learning experience outdoors, Trail Life USA and American Heritage Girls give us the opportunity to invest in the future of our community by developing strong character in our town’s youth,” he said.
