Senator Bart Williams was appointed to the newly formed American Rescue Plan Act Appropriations Subcommittee by Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann and Senate Appropriations Chairman Senator Briggs Hopson.
This committee was formed to make recommendations to the Senate Appropriations Chairman and the Senate on the appropriations of Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Funds and any other funds provided to the State of Mississippi through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 that passed congress earlier this year.
“It’s an honor and privilege to serve the state of Mississippi in this capacity,” said Senator Williams. “I appreciate the faith Lieutenant Governor Hosemann and Senator Hopson have in me to study and provide recommendations on the $1.8 billion in federal ARPA money. Mississippi has the potential to use this money to produce real results for decades to come and I’m looking forward to the upcoming hearings.”
In addition to serving on the American Rescue Plan Act Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Williams currently serves as Vice-Chair of Technology, and is a member of the Appropriations, Constitution, County Affairs, Drug Policy, Investigate State Offices, Labor, and Universities and Colleges committees.
He represents Choctaw, Montgomery, Oktibbeha, and Webster counties.
