“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world….” --Margaret Mead
Citizens and business owners of the Town of Noxapater recently held a community/town promotion meeting at the Noxapater City Hall on Monday, September 13. Concerned citizens met to discuss planning upcoming events to be held in Noxapater, as well as fundraising opportunities.
The group discussed bringing back the Noxapater Christmas Parade, organizing a 10K run sponsored by the Winston County Journal, a Chili Cookoff, purchasing new town Christmas decorations, partnering with Noxapater High School to help students get community service hours while helping to beautify the town, and much more. Citizens eager to help with events signed up on committees, and there is still room for others who would like to join.
The Parade Committee has already met, and Noxapater is well on her way to having a Christmas parade again. The parade has been scheduled for Friday, December 10 at 6:00 p.m. An entry form for the parade is below. Any persons or organizations that are interested in participating, please detach, fill out, and mail to Town of Noxapater City Hall, PO Box 266, Noxapater, MS 39346.
There was so much excitement around the proposal to purchase new Christmas decorations for the light poles that 95% of the funds for those new lights were raised that night. Donations are still being accepted to further beautify and light up the town. To donate mail it to the Noxapater City Hall, PO Box 266, Noxapater, MS 39346. All those participating individuals and businesses who have donated will be recognized. Additionally, if you would like to give in honor or memory of a loved one, you certainly may do so, and that will be recognized as well. Noxapater is full of wonderful people, who when working together for a common goal, can be an unstoppable force. This was proven at the September meeting when the initial Christmas decoration fund goal was almost nearly met in one night, which will make the town more beautiful for Christmas. Additionally, there have been numerous new businesses popping up in Noxapater, and there are still more to come.
Citizens and business owner are super excited about the growth, and this is only due to those business owners who believe in Noxapater and who know that they are investing in a wonderful town and wonderful people.
The newest business in town is West Ten Salon, owned and operated by Mrs. Anna Nicole Thomas. The grand opening and ribbon cutting will be held on Friday, October 15 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
On Tuesday, October 12 at the Noxapater City Hall at 7 p.m. will be a second community wide meeting. Any person who is a resident of Noxapater or business owner in and around Noxapater is encouraged and invited to attend the meeting.
