CLUB EXHIBIT HERE SATURDAY: One of the most beautiful, and most successful club exhibits ever put on in Winston County, was put on by Miss Alyne Bacon, Home Economics Agent, assisted by Miss Lula Temple, Home Science teacher of the Winston County A. H. S. last Saturday at court house. The beautiful hand work displayed by the club girls, and splendid garden products, as good as ever were exhibited in this county. Miss Bacon is a graduate of the I. I. & C., and deserves great credit for the splendid work she is doing in Winston County among the women and girls. Miss Temple placed a most beautiful display of hand work on exhibition from the A. H. School of Noxapater. She is a graduate of the I. I. & C. also, and deserves great credit for herself and for the above named institutions for the splendid work she has done this year.
LOCAL HAPPENINGS: Miss Mattie Jones is here on a visit to home folks. - Miss Hattie Landers spent Sunday with home folks at Hinze. - Mr. J. C. Lyons, Chief Sanitary Inspector for the State, was here this week, in the interest of better sanitation for our town. - Every man, woman and child in our county should see the pictures, and hear the speeches of Dr. Hays to be delivered today at the school hall with reference to social hygiene. - Mr. and Mrs. C. C. McLeod of Noxapater were visitors here yesterday. - Dr. W. T. Blanton and Mr. Sam McCollonch, prominent citizens of McCool were business visitors here yesterday. - Ed McGraw, one of Macon’s business gentlemen, was a business visitor here last week.- We are in receipt of a copy of the handsome invitation issued by the senior class of Pearl River County Agricultural High School, and note with pleasure the name of our young friend J. C. Stewart, Jr. among the graduates. - Louis Allgood brought to our office last Saturday the largest string of large bull frogs we have ever seen. There were eight of them, and they would almost fill a peck measure. They were caught at the pike on the Roberson road. - Our town extends a cordial welcome to Mrs. A. L. Blackwell, who joined her husband here last week. Mr. Blackwell has been in business here since the first of the year, but owing to the scarcity of houses, Mrs. Blackwell remained at Union until a house was available. They are now domiciled at the Hull cottage on Columbus Avenue. - William Richardson came over from Duck Hill this week and is guest of his father, Mr. W. Richardson. - Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Yates and little son of Houston were guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Miller Wednesday. - Mrs. F. B. Turner and little girl of Mobile are guests of her mother, Mrs. Effie Clark and other relatives. - Miss Minnie Belle Pennington of Ripley is the pleasant guest of her brother, Mr. Murray Pennington and wife. - Mrs. A. H. Thrall of Dennison, Texas is here on an extended visit to her parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. H. White. - Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Tress left this week on an extended visit with relatives in Laurel, New Orleans and other points. - Prof. A. L. Bennett, a Winston county product, but now superintendent of the schools in Albemarle county, Virginia, sends us a copy of the Daily Progress of Charlottesville, Va., which contains a nice write up of the great educational progress made in that county the past few years. The beginning of this progress was started by the lending banker of the county with the moving picture proposition, just as the Grenada Banking system has been conducting in the counties in which it has its banks, together with the Superintendent of Education, and Farm Agent. The schools are better, the farms are being improved, and the people are better contented, in Albemarle county, according to this write up.

Mrs. G. B. Webster, Music. Mathematics teacher to be announced later. The course of Study has been revised to meet the requirements of the State High School accrediting commission strictly on the 8-4 plan. A science laboratory will be installed during the summer. An athletic field has been purchased for the High School and another teacher added to the Grammar School are some of the plans for another year.

NOXAPATER NEWS: Misses Beulah Reynolds, Viola Mangum, and Mr. Joe Saunders of Kosciusko were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wafford Price the past Sunday. - Mr. William McIntyre of Jackson is here on a visit to friends. - Ola Jarvis of Hattiesburg is here on a visit to home folks. - Mr. Preston B. Triplett who has been away about two years and has traveled extensively visiting Mexico, Italy, Africa, and other places, returned home recently. He was guest of his sister, Mrs. E. H. Carter last week. - Mrs. A. C. Harrison of Greenwood is a guest of her parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Goad.
