Webster County has recorded nearly 40 new cases of COVID-19, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health’s Monday coronavirus report.
The number of COVID-19 cases here since the pandemic began now totals 1,969. That represents 38 new cases during the previous week.
However, this is the lowest one-week total since late July and down from the 50-plus cases each of the preceding two weeks.
No additional coronavirus-related deaths have been reported here. Agency data also indicates the county no longer has a long-term care facility outbreak, nor have any additional cases or deaths been reported among LTCF residents.
Webster again had the state’s highest COVID-19 incidence rate (8% increase) over the two-week period ending Sept. 13. But, that incidence rate is about half that the previous two weeks. The county had a test positivity rate of 32% as of Sept. 18.
As of Monday, 42% of Webster County’s population is fully vaccinated, according to MSDH, and 47% have received at least one of the 8,618 total doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered here.
