Local Work Group meeting set
The Winston County Soil and Water Conservation District, in cooperation with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will host a local work group meeting to discuss the FY 2020 Farm Bill Programs.
The local work group includes representatives from cooperating federal, state and local agencies, conservation organizations and the public to determine natural resource issues and county priorities.
The event is set for September 14, 2021 at 10 a.m. through teleconference.

Festival cancelled
The annual Noxapater Cotton Gin Festival and Car Show will be cancelled due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation.
The tenth annual Harvest Festival set
The tenth annual Harvest Festival held in honor of the 75th anniversary celebration of Dean Park will be held on October 9, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Dean Park 10647 HWY 15 S., Louisville, MS 39339, security will be provided at the event. They will be asking for $5 donations at the gate. There will be a $100 raffle ticket give away, each ticket will be $2. Vendor slots will be available for $50, Love Bone from Mix 106.1 will be remote live on the scene with DJ Ike on the 1s and 2s, and all classes are invited to set up tents for homecoming festivities. The parade will start at 2p.m., De Ja Vu, Dylan Morgan Band, and others will be performing live, and there will be jumpers and games for the kids to enjoy. There will be a BBQ contest with a $60 entry fee, a $300 grand prize, and a $150 prize for 2nd place; a line dance contest with a $10 entry fee per team, a $50 grand prize, and a trophy for 2nd place; a spades contest with a $10 entry fee and a $50 grand prize; last but not least, a 3 on 3 basketball tournament with a $50 entry fee per team and a $250 prize for the winning team. Plans Underway for Clarke Fest
Saturday, September 25th, will be a very special day in Clarke County, MS. The Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Clarke Fest at Archusa Water Park, Quitman, MS.
Activities will begin at 9 am and will continue until 4 pm.
Registrations are being accepted for booth spaces for the event. Spaces are available for Arts & Crafts, Trades, Industrial, Equipment Exhibits & Food Sales. Booth deadline is September 17, 2021.

Save Just One 5K
Save Just One 5K race, memory walk and kids’ fun run will be at 8 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Columbus Soccer Complex, 3rd Street and 7th Avenue. This a benefit for Contact Helpline (suicide awareness and prevention), which serves Webster County. Register at contacthelplinegtms.org.
Fees: $25 for 5K run/memory walk, ages 13 and older, until Sept. 5, and $30 after. $15 for kids’ fun run, ages 12 and younger.
Tent Revival to be held
Broken Wings Ministry will be hosting a tent revival September 13-17 at 6 p.m. each night. Bro. John Staszefski, Bro. Roger Griffith, Bishop Kelvin Copeland, Bro. Jerry Waite, Bro. Larry Martin, and Bro. Maury Jones will be the guest speakers. The revival will be held in the parking lot of Broken Wings Ministry.

Mt. Moriah MB Church to
celebrate pastor
The Mt. Moriah MB Church family will celebrate Pastor Benjamin M. and Shellie M. Pittman’s 40th Pastoral anniversary at 10:45 a.m., Sunday, September 19. Worship service will be held in the church parking lot. Rev. Billy Clay and the Little Member MB Church family will be the special guest. A drive through celebration parade will follow immediately after service.
COVID-19 vaccines to be offered at Dean Park
Covid-19 Vaccines will be offered at Dean Park for adults and children 12 years of age and older.
The second does will be given from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m., Thursday, September 23. No appointment is needed. Those who are eligible can take their booster on either of these dates. Pfizer and Moderna will be available. This event is being hosted by the Friends of Dean Park.

There will be a Ribbon Cutting for Mississippi Blondie September 24th at 10am with new business owner Alyson Clark.
