Health Department
open to public
The Webster County Health Department is open to the public, though Google search results incorrectly state that this location is permanently closed.
A request for edit has been issued to Google to correct the error, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health.
The department is located at 57 Government Ave., Eupora. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
To make an appointment at the Webster County Health Department, the public can call 662-258-3761.
SWCD pecan sale
Webster County Soil & Water Conservation District is having a pre-order “NEW CROP” pecan sale. Orders are due by Nov. 10 and will be available for pickup before Thanksgiving.
One-pound bags, gift tin assortments and chocolate-covered peanuts will be available.
Forms can be picked up at the NRCS office at 1381 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Eupora; 662-258-2357 Ext. 3.
Veterans Day cere-
mony, ruck march
Joe H. Morehead Post 3806, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be conducting its Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) at the Veterans Memorial in front of the Eupora Post Office. All veterans are invited to participate.
The day will begin with a ruck march at 6:30 a.m. starting at the Mathiston Veterans Memorial (in front of City Hall) and ending at the Webster County Veterans Memorial. Everyone is invited to gather along Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Eupora at 10:30 a.m. to cheer them on, then move to the Post Office for the ceremony. Anyone who wishes to participate in the ruck march in honor of a veteran may do so
Maben Diabetes
Awareness Fair
A Diabetes Awareness Fair will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at W.O. Shivers Park in Park in Maben.
This is a free event led by OCH Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist Nicky Yeatman, RD, LD, to help prevent and manage diabetes and connect people to resources to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Speakers will also include Krishuana Pulliam and Khristian Pulliam.
Topics/activities: diabetes education, healthy dollar store shopping, sample healthy food and eat easy, delicious recipes, rethink your drink, fun exercise with OCH Wellness Connection and health screenings.
Wear your mask and social distance. If you or someone in your household has a fever or has COVID-19, please stay home.
The town of Maben is allowing use of the facilities, and coordinating the event is Rose Coffey Graham, Mayor's Health Council coordinator, OCH Community Advisory Board member and Controllers 4-H Clubs leader.
Mathiston FD
stew cooking
The Mathiston Fire Department's annual Brunswick stew cooking will be Saturday at the fire station, 400 Church St.
Stew will be ready at 10 a.m. for $25 a gallon (bring a container), along with fried apple pies for $2 each.
Merry Eupora
Christmas event
The Eupora Main Street Association will sponsor Merry Eupora Christmas, a Shop Local Event, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday on Eupora’s Main Stree and all surrounding businesses throughout the city
Local stores will be holding their annual Christmas open houses with door prizes, special deals and unique buying opportunities.
A Christmas Market will be also located down the center of Main Street (North Dunn) to attract additional shoppers. Vendors will be set up with a wide variety of wares from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. A special kids park will be in the Depot Park and parking lot adjacent to Main Street.
5K Glow Run
The Lady Eagle softball team is hosting its sixth annual 5K glow run Saturday at Whites Creek Lake pavilion.
Registration starts at 4 p.m. and the race begins at 4:30. If you would like to register, contact Laura at 662-312-4540.
All proceeds will go toward covered batting cages for the softball program.

Jubilee Saturday
The monthly Gospel Music Jubilee at the Gore Springs Community Center will be at 6 p.m. Saturday featuring Messiah's Men, Station Family and Canaan Way. Admission is $5.

Library hours
The Maben Public Library’s regular hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and noon-4:30 p.m.
AA meetings
