October is Head Start Awareness Month. Head Start has been in existence for over 50 years. Millions of children and families have benefited from the program.
October was declared Head Start Awareness Month by President Ronald Reagan on Oct. 22, 1982. Since this date, October has been a month for communities to celebrate the life-changing impact of Head Start. Help spread awareness of Head Start’s lifelong, nationwide impact.
Activities last month at Eupora Head Start/Early Head Start Center included “Take it Outside,” a week of creative arts with storytime, music and movement, pumpkin carving, kid-friendly costume parade and “Pink Out Day” balloon launch in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Fall Festival climaxed the celebration on Oct. 29.
