Dr. Falan McKnight, a native of Weir, always knew she wanted to practice family medicine in a rural setting. When an opportunity at Louisville Medical Clinic presented itself, she could not pass up the opportunity to follow her passion and be close to home. She is now part of the LMC practice. “I want to treat my patients from cradle to grave,” McKnight said. “In medical school, women’s health and geriatrics were my favorite specialties. Family medicine allows me to expand on those services and treat the entire patient.” In addition to seeing patients at LMC, McKnight is also rounding on residents at Choctaw Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ackerman. In her education, McKnight is a graduate of the Mississippi School for Math and Science and the University of Mississippi, where she briefly studied forensic science before transferring to Mississippi State University. However, McKnight graduated with a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) certificate from Vanderbilt University. While working as an MLT at Baptist– Golden Triangle, McKnight felt called to further her education. Upon acceptance into the M.D. program at University of Mississippi Medical Center, she knew she had found her calling and that places her back where she calls home. The daughter of Jeff and Liz McKnight of Weir, she has recently purchased a home in Choctaw County. With chickens, doves, and three dogs already on the property, McKnight hopes to add more animals in the future, with plans to have a homestead. In what little spare time she has, McKnight enjoys crocheting, knitting, drawing, and cooking. Her adventurous side loves kayaking and, after many years away, being close to family is her favorite thing about being home. CRMC Hospital CEO Steve Marinelli is excited about the addition of McKnight to the family. “Louisville Medical Clinic has an outstanding reputation for providing an extremely high level of care for its patients, and I have no doubt Dr. McKnight will continue that standard of care. She is the perfect example of our motto “Neighbors Caring for Neighbors,” and we welcome her to our staff.” McKnight is accepting new patients and is available Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Louisville Medical Clinic. Her office can be reached at (662) 773- 7500.
