Father and son became lawyers with father being a graduate of Louisville Colored High School who graduated with the Class of 1964. Fred Walker has a son, Eric F. Walker who became the legal counsel at Arkansas Tech University (ATU) on July 5, 2023.
Dr. Robin E. Bowen, ATU president stated, “Mr. Walker possesses the academic preparation and career experience necessary to succeed as legal counsel at Arkansas Tech University. I look forward to his service to our institution in support of our mission and vision.”
A native of Little Rock, Eric earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Morehouse College and a Doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Indiana University School of Law. After graduation, he became deputy prosecuting attorney for the State of Arkansas 1998-2000 and began his career as assistant attorney general from 2000-2005.
Eric has served as staff attorney for the Little Rock School District since 2016. Previously, he was assistant dean of career services for the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock from 2015-16. Prior, he was legal counsel for Windstream Communications from 2012-2015 and general counsel for Philander Smith College from 2005-12.
Eric’s father, Fred Walker stated, “I am very proud of my son’s achievements and even prouder that he keeps in touch with me.” Fred Walker is a disabled Vietnam veteran from Louisville, MS who presently lives in Anderson, IN.
