Choctaw County’s unemployment rate moved slightly in April, according to preliminary numbers from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
Choctaw County’s unemployment rate stood at 3.4% during April, which up from the 3.2% in March. Unemployment here was 5.0% in April 2021.
The estimated number of unemployed Choctaw Countians in April was estimated at 130. The labor force, which is made up of everyone who has a job or is looking for one, increased by 30 to an estimated 3,660.
April jobless rates in nearby counties: Calhoun, 3.3%; Chickasaw, 3.8%; Clay, 4.5%; Grenada, 3.2%; Montgomery, 4.1%; and Oktibbeha, 3.5%.
Mississippi’s unemployment rate for April was 3.6% and the national jobless rate was 3.3%, both seasonally unadjusted.
