Two separate families mourned the loss of loved ones that died in crashes over the Christmas holiday weekend.
Thursday morning, a 22-year-old man died after his vehicle crashed into a log-truck just outside of Maben.
News outlets report that Preston Payne was traveling near the intersection of Highway 82 and Douglastown Road when his vehicle rear ended a log truck. Payne died at the scene.
Payne was from Mathiston and a graduate of Choctaw County High School.
A second man, a 70-year-old man died in a single car accident on Highway 25 near Sandhill Road. News outlets reports that James Talley, 70, of McCool was traveling in a Ford Explorer along with Mary Robertson, 65, of Eupora when the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.
Robertson and two other passengers were taken to a local hospital.
Payne’s arrangements are incomplete at this time with Coleman Funeral Home.
