“Phenomenal” is one word that could be used to describe nine-year-old Kingston “Turbo” Brown. The Winston County native is the son of Courtney Miller and Brian Brown and the grandson of Carol Black of Noxapater. Currently residing in Plano, Texas, Brown has already won many medals and accolades in Track and Field.
Making his accomplishments even more outstanding is the fact that Kingston began formally training a mere eleven months ago in October 2022. At that time, “Turbo” began sprint running under Marcus Bell and Team MSI. Bell is a former athlete who has coached track and field at both the high school and college level, and he has Olympic aspirations for his current trainees.
A “Welcome Home” celebration was held at the 4th Quarter Sports Bar and Lounge in Noxapater on August 31, 2023. Locals greeted Kingston and his family with sparklers and American flags. Not only does Kingston’s family believe he will eventually represent the United States at the Olympics, but his coach does as well.
The star athlete has already accomplished so much in just under a year. He placed first in Dallas in the 100 meter run and 200 meter run as well as first in the state of Texas. He also appeared at the 2023 Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa. He placed second nationally in the 100 meter run and fourth in the 200 meter run at this event. This is only Kingston’s first season, and his supporters believe this is only the beginning of a highly successful journey.
Additionally, Brown was a part of the Joe Deloach Invitational in Houston, Texas. Kingston placed first in each of his events.
“Turbo” has won 14 medals, according to Courtney Miller, his mother. He is currently back in training for the 2024 season. Competitive events begin next month.
