The town of Noxapater hosted two business meetings recently. One meeting, held August 22, was the public hearing regarding the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year, while the other was the regularly scheduled monthly business meeting, held on September 5, 2023.
Like many other small towns in Mississippi, Noxapater will be operating on a tight budget while still providing the services to which citizens have become accustomed.
The total budget for the town of Noxapater is $684,748.00.
The breakdown of the budget is as follows:
•General expenditures: $204,475.00
•Water: $355,668.00
•Sewer: $76,140.00
•Garbage: $48,465.00
No members of the community were present for the budget meeting on August 22, so no changes were made to the proposed budget.
The board then met at its regularly scheduled day, September 5. The board’s chief action at that meeting was to pass the proposed budget. There were no dissenting votes.
The Town of Noxapater Board of Aldermen will meet again on Tuesday, October 3, at 7:00 PM.
