The Town of Ackerman approved to rescind the order for a radar within city limits. Mayor Dale Reid said it was misinterpreted.
Reid said he received a call from a representative stating that the way Ackerman interpreted wasn’t how it was written.
“It was written only to help one town. It just wasn’t listed in there,” Chief Tim Cook said. Reid said they asked the opinion of Circuit Judge Joey Loper, and Loper said it’s interpreted the way that the legislature meant for it to be.
“But, it doesn’t say and it says or,” Reid said.
He updated the board on the ongoing work at the new Sportsplex. He said the dirt needed is being moved, and work is continuing.
The board, during the time of the meeting, was awaiting the approval of the Choctaw County School District to re-lease Dale Davidson Field and Tom Glasgow Park.
The school leases Dale Davidson from the town and the lease will extend until the completion of Charger Stadium. The town leases Tom Glasgow Park from the school and will be re-leased until the completion of the new sportsplex.
The school board approved the leases at their meeting on Monday night.
Reid also announced that the Choctaw County Christmas Parade will be on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m.
