The Town of Ackerman is continuing to work on several projects in the upcoming months. Mayor Dale Reid said the sidewalk project in front of the Ackerman Police Station is almost complete and work will then begin on the portion by the Ackerman Post Office and Hollingsworth Processing.
He then updated the board on the Sportsplex. He said when they originally sent in the bids, they forgot to put the date when they were opening the bids. Reid said it would have to be republished and the bids would be open before their June meeting.
“So, we’re a month behind,” Reid said.
He also said that Public Works Director Joey Green would be losing a full-time worker. Reid said that in either June or July, full-time worker Jerome Brown would be leaving because he is getting married and moving to Oklahoma.
“Joey said he’s looking at two of the part-time help guys, he said they’ll both be good candidates,” he said. Reid told the board that Green would make a recommendation and go from there.
Reid also told the board that he spoke with the owner of 255 N. Commerce Street about the cleanup of his property.
Chief Tim Cook told the board that on May 19 the high school would be graduating at Dale Davidson and they were preparing for the influx of people who would be in town.
