At the bi-monthly Board of Supervisors meeting, held June 19, the supervisors discussed multiple issues, including the latest news regarding building a storm shelter in Noxapater.
The storm shelter has been mentioned at multiple supervisors’ meetings in the past months. It was brought to the attention of the board that an important deadline was missed by the previous county EMA director, and the county attorney revealed that he had filed an appeal to rectify the issue.
The board also answered multiple questions brought forward by the county attorney regarding the design of the structure. The board was brought up to date on any communications with MEMA in regards to design and regulations the structure must meet. In all, members were informed that this is an ongoing process in conjunction with MEMA. Further updates will be given at future meetings.
The board also amended multiple hunting, residential, and agricultural 16th section land leases.
In other county business, the Board of Supervisors:
•Approved a $60 transfer from the common county fund to Dean Park
•Approved the payment of $131.67 for May 2023 travel expenses for the Chancery Court reporter, Lindsey P. Williams
•Approved a Data Systems Management Application Software Support Agreement and authorized Luke Parkes to sign; the effective date for this agreement is Oct. 1, 2023 – September 30, 2024)
•Approved a payment to Bisdigital 2023-2024 Service and Support in the amount of $2,400.00
•Approved payments to DivcoData (#54660) in the amount of $407.96 and (#54660-P) in the amount of $847.18 (Landowner 2nd certified letter)
•Acknowledged the receipt of a community assistance visit, follow-up action (MEMA)
•Discussed a letter of support received from LHS concerning a trip to Denver, CO, for the National FCCLA Conference Competition
•Acknowledged the receipt of minutes from the Airport Board for the first quarter of 2023
•Approved bids for supplies for 2023-2024
•Approved a cash in bank report ending May 31, 2023
•Approved the minutes of the June 5, 2023, business meeting
The board then adjourned; the next meeting is set to be held on July 3, 2023.
