Supervisor Chris McIntire told the board they needed to start thinking about purchasing two new garbage trucks and a front loader.
McIntire said if there’s a storm and they need to clear the roads, they have to wait for the mine if the front loader is in use and it delays them.
And to the public, it makes the Supervisors appear that they’re dragging their feet on fixing the road, but they’re having to wait on ash, or a front loader to do so. McIntire said it’s a lot easier to clear a road with a front loader, than it is with a backhoe.
“This recent storm, I didn’t get hit that hard but John [Shumaker] did and it held him up, bad,” McIntire said referring to the floods in July.
He said that it’s time the board began thinking about purchasing its own. “It’ll be nice to have that,” he said.
McIntire said it’s already in the budget, and it’s something they’ve talked about but need to seriously consider.
