The Choctaw County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 7 with all supervisors in attendance. The board is comprised of Joey Stephenson, District 1 supervisor and board president; Greg Fondren District 2 supervisor; Chris McIntire, District 3 supervisor and board vice president; John Shumaker, District 4 supervisor; and Betty Bruce, District 5 supervisor. In early November business: • A motion was made by Chris McIntire to approve the fire contracts as presented and order the clerk to issue checks to settle same. The Fire Coordinator is ordered to have contract executed by the Fire Departments before checks are released to the Department. The motion was seconded by Joey Stephenson, and the board unanimously approved. • A motion was made by Chris McIntire to approve the loan of Bank of Kilmichael for Beat 3 in the amount of $225,000.00 for a dump truck from Truck Worx’s and authorize the clerk to execute needed paperwork on the board’s behalf. The motion was seconded by John Shumaker, and the board unanimously approved. • A motion was made by John Shumaker to approve financing for a dump truck for Beat 4 from Truckworxs in the amount of $225,000.00 and authorize the clerk to execute needed paperwork to complete the same on the board’s behalf. The motion was seconded by Chris McIntire, and the board unanimously approved. • A motion was made by Chris McIntire to rehire Mark Bunn in the E-911 department as of Oct. 28, 2022, at $15.02/hr. as a fulltime employee. The motion was seconded by Joey Stephenson, and the board unanimously approved. •A motion was made by John Shumaker to recognize the resignation of Nevaeh Rodriquez from the E911 department. The motion was seconded by Greg Fondren, and the board unanimously approved. • A motion was made by Joey Stephenson to authorize the advertisement of an open position in the E-911 department. The motion was seconded by John Shumaker, and the board unanimously approved. • A motion was made by Joey Stephenson to recognize the pay increase of Deputy Tax Assessor Josh Miles of $2,000.00 per year as a result of his newly acquired certification from the State of Mississippi starting Oct. 1, 2022. The one month of back pay on the increase shall be reflected on the November payroll and settled by the clerk. The motion was seconded by Betty Bruce, and the board unanimously approved. • A motion was made by Chris McIntire to order an inter-fund transfer in the amount of $204,440.06 from fund 096 to fund 001 as released by the Department of Revenue. The motion was seconded by Joey Stephenson, and the board unanimously approved. • A motion was made by Joey Stephenson to approve advertisement of the Mobile Home Tax Sale by the Choctaw County Sheriff. The motion was seconded by John Shumaker, and the board unanimously approved. • A motion was made by Chris McIntire to order the clerk to issue a pay warrant in the amount of $8,000.00 to the Soil and Water Conservation Board for their yearly request. The motion was seconded by Joey Stephenson, and the board unanimously approved. The Board of Supervisors will resume the November 2022 term on Monday, November 21 at 9 a.m. at the Choctaw County Courthouse.
