When the City of Louisville met for its regular board meeting on October 3, 2023, both the Louisville Fire Department and the Louisville Police Department held swearing-in rites.
Detrick Sanders, who is no stranger to the city Fire Department, was sworn in as the Deputy Fire Chief. Sanders replaces Jeff Franks, who retired earlier this year. Sanders has fifteen years’ experience with the Louisville Fire Department, where he has dutifully served the department as an engineer and captain.
Jarrett Lovorn was sworn in as an officer with the Louisville Police Department. Lovorn recently graduated from the MS Law Enforcement Training Academy; he also completed his enlistment with the U.S. Army prior to his joining LPD. Lovorn is a native of Philadelphia, MS.
In other business, the Board of Aldermen:
•Approved the docket of claims (#16101 – 16481) for a total of $199,391.43
•Authorized a payment to Santander, annual SCBA’s payment, total $20,188.98
•Approved adding Detrick Sanders to the phone list each month, effective October 1, 2023
•Authorized a payment to Musco in the amount of $55,523.75 (invoice 4231, annual payment – park lighting)
•Approved adding Dalton Anthony to phone list each month, effective October 1, 2023
•Approved adding Brenden Mills to the phone list each month, effective October 1, 2023
•Approved hiring a part-time employee with the Street Department (effective October 4, 2023)
•Approved the removal of part-time employees
•Approved pay increase for two employees effective October 5, 2023
•Approved the promotion of Justin Marshall to Sergeant and Samuel Chase to Patrolman First Class, both effective October 5, 2023
•Accepted the resignation of Leslie Loving, effective October 4, 2023
•Acknowledged the receipt of $200.00 from Sunbelt Equipment for Police Law Publications sponsorship; acknowledged receipt of $4,000.00 from State of MS for reimbursement of training expenses, Jarrett Lovorn
•Approved moving a part-time employee to a part-time position at E-911
•Approved the rehire of an employee to a full-time position, effective October 19, 2023
•Appoint Wilson Webb to a three year term at the Winston County Economic Development Partnership; Appoint Jesse Henley to the same
Special announcements included Fire Prevention Week (October 8 – 14), city officials’ upcoming attendance at the Small Town Conference in Meridian (October 25 – 26), and the Animal Shelter Color Run (November 4, 2023 – a fundraiser).
