Dr. Sophie Wang will present a recital on Sunday evening, October 1, at 6 pm to celebrate the donation of a new Steinway piano gifted by a generous patron. The concert will take place in the Living Stones Building at the French Camp Presbyterian Church.
The concert is free and open to the public. We hope many will join us for this joyful event.
Dr. Wang is a member of the piano faculty at Mississippi State University. She is originally from Taiwan and moved to the United States at age 18. She has performed extensively in Europe, Asia, and the USA.
She will perform a short program of piano pieces and talk about each one. Included in the program will be Schumann’s “Fantasie in C major,” Brahms’ “Theme and Variations Op 18b”, and Scriabin’s “Sonata No.4”.
We are particularly expecting to draw young people to this performance of memorable concert music. This will be a rare opportunity for students in our area to experience this type of music.
