Grants awarded to the City of Eupora were the subject of a previous program for the Eupora Rotary Club.
Janet Cook, executive director of the Eupora Economic Development nonprofit organization, was guest speaker on Feb. 28. She gave this rundown of grants that have been awarded the city through the entity, which supports the additional grant needs for the city:
April 2022
COPS: E-Force Software program — $128,000
COPS: in-car/video/body camera/license plate reader — $125,000
United States Deputy Sheriff's Association — $5,000 cash for Tasers
USA Football Grant: $500 voucher for football equipment
June 2022
Mississippi Office of Highway Safety Occupant Protection Grant (seatbelt/child restraint enforcement): $19,000 for police officer overtime reimbursement.
July 2022
Weyerhaeuser: $4,000 for law enforcement go bags and police uniforms.
September 2022
Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership: $2,800 (based on purchase of five vests)
October 2022
JAG Grant: state — eight Glocks and accessories: $4,992 (100% funded/submitted hardship waiver)
November 2022
USA Football Grant: $1,000 voucher for football equipment
Weyerhaeuser: $3,000 for soccer program nets

Cook also mentioned upcoming events being organized by Eupora Economic Development. One is the Eupora Crawfish Cook-Off, which will be from 6-10 p.m. April 15 at the Civic Center. This is a fundraiser for canopy lights across Main Street (North Dunn).
The other event is the Chainsaws & Art Festival, which will Aug. 9-12 at Spud Stennett and is being sponsored in part by the city of Eupora. Cook said the mayor and board wanted an event that the city could be associated with.
