The Louisville Voter Education and Youth Development (LVEYD) has been quite busy this election year. The organization has focused primarily on getting out the vote for the Primary and the Run-Off this election year. They plan to do the same for the Nov. 7, 2023, General Election Day and Regular Special Election Day. Polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The organization announced this week that it is available to help voters get to the polls to vote in November.
LVEYD is a nonprofit organization that was organized in 2008. Its mission is to empower youth and young adults by providing constructive programs that promote positive values. It helps to provide youth and parents with skills for personal growth.
Voter Education is used to make youth and young adults aware of the importance of voting. They learn how to register, where to vote, and when to vote. They learn to teach others what they are learning.
Life Skills are taught to make them aware of the skills they must possess in order to live self-sufficiently in today’s world.
Leadership is instructed to reach leadership skills by interacting with others, learning determination, self-discipline, staying focused, and being a team player.
LVEYD also teaches parenting skills that help parents gain or regain control of their children, mainly to help their children set goals and respect themselves and others. Parents learn to teach children responsibility, to value achievement, to be trustworthy, and to maintain self-control.
