Tyree Irving, Chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party, was the keynote speaker at a well-attended meeting of the Winston County Federation of Democratic Women, held this past Saturday, at Lake Tiak O'Khata, in Louisville. Irving is a native of Greenwood, MS, who holds an impressive list of credentials, including being elected to the Court of Appeals in 1998. Also present was Mississippi Democratic Vice-Chair, Jodie Brown.
The purpose of the Federation of Democratic Women, is to unite women with the Democratic Party, to encourage participation at every level of the party structure, and to promote the cause of the Mississippi Democratic Party. The meeting was a demonstration toward those objectives, and was seen as a first step for the organization, and a challenge to the members to continue their support throughout the years to come.
