"Easter Eggs Everywhere" was Friday’s story at the Maben Public Library, written by Steve Metzger and illustrated by Kathi Ember.
Our story was about the Easter bunny sleeping too long and not enough time to dye the Easter eggs. Unpainted eggs were laying all over the ground. Then a sly fox came along and offered to sell him an Egg-o-matic fast-dying egg machine.
So after showing the bunny how the machine worked, the bunny thought he would buy it. The first egg was bumpy, then lumpy, then one was square. Three were flat and a pair cracked. Pointy eggs, too!
Then they started coming out faster and faster. Eggs smashed the home of some ants, and shattered and splattered all over the hare (Easter bunny).
So then all of his friends showed up and offered to help. They helped clean up the mess. They painted all night, telling stories, singing songs, until all the eggs were finished. They packed the Easter basket and the Easter Bunny was on his way.
After the story, the kids water-colored Easter eggs and then enjoyed playing with Play-Doh. Friday we had Elisheva, Ian and Seth Barrett, Miller, Maverick and Magnolia Turner, and Tyler Kay Bates.
