What a great crowd we had at the Maben Public Library on April 24. We read the classic story of “Chicken Little.”
Chicken Little was sitting under a tree when something fell, an acorn, and naturally he thought the sky was falling! He met some friends on his way to tell the king. They all had rhyming names — Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky and Goosey Loosey.
Chicken Little told them the sky was falling and he knew because he saw it with his eyes, heard it with his ears and a piece of it fell on his tail. After reading this a few times, the children started reading it with me. All of his friends wanted to go with him to tell the king.
When they got there and told the king the sky was falling, the king reached into her feathers and pulled out an acorn. “Chicken Little, this is what fell on your tail,” the king said. Everyone thought it was funny and then they all went home. All of the excitement was over!
The children water colored an egg and colored and cut out eggs to put in an Easter basket.
Today, Friday, we will have an Easter egg hunt. Children should bring an Easter basket and 10 candy-filled eggs.
On April 24 we had Barrett and Stetson Willers; Miller, Maverick and Magnolia Turner; Bentley Flora; Abel Berry; Tyler Kay Bates; Treyvor King; Ian, Elishava and Seth Barrett; Rowan, Bricker, Leona and Della Herrin; and Kyndall Foster.
