For many decades, Perry's Department Store was an iconic retail business located on South Church Avenue in Louisville. It was a place where the entire family could shop for all manner of clothing and footwear, all the way from infant up to the gentleman and the lady of the house. Perry's doors closed some years back, and the building sat idle, falling into some disrepair. Owner Brenda Keen recently made a major decision to renovate and remodel the building, making it a venue for many types of events and gatherings. Thus, The Lunceford, was born. The idea was set in motion by Iris Keen, who was engaged and wanted to be married at Perry's, the business once owned by her parents, Brenda Keen and Odie Keen. The renovation began, and Iris got her wish to be married at Perry's just a few months ago. However, it is now called The Lunceford, an homage to Mr. Perry Lunceford, the founder of Perry's Department Store. After the successful family wedding, The Lunceford is now available for bookings by the public. A class reunion has already been held there, and another wedding is planned for the near future. And there are other bookings already on the calendar. The Lunceford features 6,000 square feet downstairs plus a 400 square-foot sitting room upstairs, a fully equipped kitchen, all new wiring and plumbing, and several new restrooms. Keen explained the renovation efforts were made to repurpose as much of Perry's as possible and maintain the charm of the department store. On the inside, there are hardwood floors, doors, and more that hark back to the beginning of Perry's. The Lunceford is an ideal venue for weddings, family reunions, class reunions, dances, and much more. Persons interested in booking The Lunceford can contact Brenda Keen at (662) 242-5173.
